K.G. Bethlehem: Writer ~ Author ~ Poet

Good evening, I see you all got the memo, before we begin. . .I apologize for the delayed start time, and glad you all made it.  Welcome to the second install of  THE  WRITER’S  LOUNGE. Tonight’s featured guess is a native of my hometown, colleague, and fellow WP blogger, K. G. BETHLEHEM.  Before we talk to K.G., we need you to hit that ‘play’ button and let Miles Davis sooth your soul.

And now, The Great. . . Miles Davis

F. Kenneth Taylor/W.L.:  This second installment of THE WRITER’S  LOUNGE is very important to me because the featured writer is a childhood and long-time friend of mine of more than 25yrs, but I don’t want to ramble, so here’s K.G. BETHLEHEM.

K.G. Bethlehem: I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, I’ve also lived in Jacksonville, FL and P.G. County Maryland as well. I have a 3yr daughter who I love very much, two nieces in Atlanta, GA, along with my Mother, brother and a host of family; my Pops was recently called home. I enjoy reading Sci-Fi, Dystopian novels, comic books, non-fiction, and social/political/historical reads.  I also enjoy watching movies, nature, attending plays, jazz, blues, hip hop, R&B, alternative, and classical music, (and just) a whole lot of things.

F. Kenneth Taylor/W.L.: So tell everyone how you began writing, it’s pretty interesting.

K.G. Bethlehem: I started writing dialogue for comics in grade. Later, in Jr. High and High School, I began to write poetry, short stories, and political raps! I attended St. Louis University, and got into Spoken Word and poetry readings. . . In 2001 I, Joel [Yo’elle] Charles, and F. Kenneth Taylor, started writing/drawing the urban comic, ShadowKill, which debuted in 2004 under Xlibris Publishing.  Several years later, I published my first book, “Avenging Knights Rebirth of Lost Honor”, in 2009 with iUniverse Publishing.  Currently, I and F. Kenneth Taylor are in the process of re-releasing “Shadow Within A City” the novel version of ShadowKill. I’m currently working on two additional novels, as well and a satire comic book series.  Hopefully, all three will be released this year, or by the beginning of 2014.  So in essence I have been writing for over 15 years strong.

F. Kenneth Taylor/W.L.: K.G., besides Fantasy, are there any other genres and styles you write in?

K.G. Bethlehem: I (like to) stay in the Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Dystopian, (and) Comic Book realm, but will dabble with Suspense-Action/Horror.

F. Kenneth Taylor/W.L.: Who are your favorite writers/authors?

K.G. Bethlehem: I’ll try to keep this list short as I can but here we go; Richard Wright, George Orwell, Zora Neal Hurston, Phillp K. Dick, Rod Serling, Langston Hughes, John Steinbeck, Aldous Huxley, David Brin, and Aaron McGruder, and whoever created the Far Side comics—F’g great!

F. Kenneth Taylor/W.L.: We definitely gotta thank Aaron McGruder for The Boondocks!  Okay, now the part I’ve been waiting for—Tell us “Avenging Knights: Rebirth of Lost Honor”

K.G. Bethlehem: Well, Avenging Knights Rebirth of Lost Honor is a fantasy novel centered on the disappearance of a young and powerful sorceress, Mela, and her friends’ journey to find and rescue her.  Naturally, they encounter a host of resistance along the way in the form of Goblins, Demons, Necromancers, and more!  I don’t want to give too much away—You just gotta check it out!

F. Kenneth Taylor/W.L.: Okay, I’m not just saying this because we go way back, but Avenging Knights: Rebirth of Lost Honor, puts me in the mindset of Lord of the Rings—Excellent read people! Seriously, go pick it up!  And since we’re on the subject, where can our readers find Avenging Knights?

F. Kenneth Taylor/W.L.: K.G., thanks for appearing on THE  WRITER’S  LOUNGE, you know I truly appreciate it.  I would also like to thank everyone for showing up, and again, I apologize for the delayed start this evening!

And here’s John Coltrane to take us out in A Sentimental Mood

Thanks again for your support!
