Introducing Your S/O To Your Kids

I’m working on a new article & I need IMMEDIATE feedback from all the single-parents (male & female), currently or previously dating. . .

Here’s the question. . .
When/how do you tell your s/o or ‘love-interest‘ about your kids, or do you?  If so, when/how do you determine the right time to do so?

Please, please, please respond ASAP!  I love getting ‘Likes’, but I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need ‘COMMENTS’ on this one!  Thanks guys!

  1. You tell them straight away. In that initial introductions conversation, you make sure it is known that you have a child or children. That way it is out there and whoever that person is can make an informed decision as to whether they want to get involved in your life or not. Delaying providing that info is unfair

  2. Immediately. I actually would never agree to go out with someone before they knew about my children/previous marriage. I don’t feel that you should be asking someone out without knowing anything about them to begin with…what are you basing your interest on? Appearance only?

I wouldn’t waste my time on someone without knowing whether or not they would be okay with me and all the things that come along with me entail, including my children because they aren’t going anywhere. If you have a problem with them, you have a problem with me.

If children from previous relationships/marriages are a deal breaker that is something that should be discussed up front. Anyone who is genuinely interested in who I am as a person, should already know I have children.

    1. Hey cousin, thanks for the thoughts! You & Oscar Jr. are the only ones (from the family) who took time read & respond, so I used your comments in my article. Don’t worry, I only used first names, not sure if it matters or not, but just a precaution I take when I use a quote from someone I know.

      1. No problem cousin! I don’t say things that I have a problem repeating so it’s all good. I’d love to read the article, forward me a link once it’s published. Congrats on the writing gig…proud of you for chasing your dream! 🙂

        1. Hey thanks! I’ve been making so many advances with my writing lately, that’s its really becoming a 2nd job! I work all day, come home & write all night! But I just take it as a sign getting closer to being able to do it FT on a professional level, which I plan to accomplish by the end of the year

I value your feedback, please leave a comment
